Career Ownership

This arrangement typically spans a 12-24 month period.  Bonnie works with you on all aspects of preparing your book for publication.  Your collaboration begins with a careful examination of your goals for your book, the marketplace for your book, and the publishing options can meet your goals.

Once you have a clear idea of who will publish and buy your book, Bonnie will guide you to create a clear plan to write the book, which includes decisions about structure, what to include and what to exclude, a table of contents, and templates for each chapter.

Once your plan is completed, you’ll write a pilot chapter and meet with Bonnie for feedback and coaching to ensure your writing is the best it can be.  You’ll debrief any problems you had with the writing process and generate strategies to deal with your personal challenges.  Bonnie will have tips and suggestion customized for you as well as feedback that can improve your efficiency and quality with the remaining chapters.

Together, you’ll create a schedule for completing your remaining chapters that works with your lifestyle.  As each chapter is complete, Bonnie will provide feedback and editing via Microsoft Word’s Track Changes.  Initial feedback will involve big picture suggestions, like how to adjust the flow and where to add examples, etc., (known as manuscript editing)  Once you’ve made changes, a second review will check for errors in grammar and punctuation (known as copyediting).

Throughout the process of writing your book, Bonnie will check in with you and hold you accountable according to your personalized agreement.  You’ll be responsible to complete assignments and to stick with your schedule so you can complete the book during your negotiated timeframe.  As you have questions or concerns throughout the process, you are welcome to contact Bonnie via e-mail or phone for support.

Using your SCORE system made my writing task so much easier. The “Spill Your Thoughts” brainstorming got me to new ideas that I hadn’t thought of before. I am so excited to use this method to write a book. I want to sing your praises!!

When it comes to grammar and punctuation mistakes, Bonnie makes changes for you, which you’ll have the option to accept or reject.

Ghost Writing Service:  Bonnie ghost writes the copy for your review via interviews, following the planning work described above.  In this option, final decisions are shared and the authorship reads “with Bonnie Budzowski.”

Editing Services

  • Need someone to take a “big picture” look and make suggestions for a book you’ve written?
  • Need someone objective to give you honest feedback about what you’ve written?
  • Looking for a professional editor to “clean up” your grammar and punctuation?
  • Want to ensure the book that carries your name as author makes you fully proud?

How Do Editing Services Work?

Editing services, like all inCredible Messages services, are flexible to meet your needs.  The major categories are listed below.  These are common categories in the industry.

Bonnie recognizes that as an entrepreneurs or other expert, you are busy with income-producing tasks.  You might find it efficient to have an editor who not only points out your mistakes, but will also do some re-writing to make corrections and/or improve your text.  When you work with Bonnie in any of the following categories, you can choose to receive suggestions or to receive the higher level of service which includes some rewriting.

Manuscript Development Editing

Bonnie gave me what I needed to complete an item on my bucket list—one that seemed on the impossible side.  She took the pain out of the process and was a consummate professional every step of the way.

Nick Coletti, author

Once a draft (of a chapter or book) is written, a Bonnie reviews your manuscript and provides suggestions to improve the content.  Feedback at this level is a big-picture view that can be the key to moving your manuscript from ordinary to outstanding.

Bonnie may make suggestions about how your content is organized, the tone of your writing, where you need additional information, and where an example or illustration will clarify things for the reader.

Make will review your work with target readers in mind, thinking beyond the technical aspects of writing.  Manuscript development editors are not marketing professionals, but Bonnie gives you suggestions about how to make the book appealing to the buying public.  Her background in rhetoric and persuasion, plus her own perspective as a business owner, gives Bonnie a marketing edge.

Work with any manuscript development editor early in your process rather than later.  With early feedback, you can incorporate relevant changes into the book as you write, saving time, money, and frustration.

Copy Editing

When you hire a copy editor (sometimes called line editor), you hire someone to review your grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency.  Think of this editor as the one who will help you avoid embarrassing yourself with pesky mistakes that can hurt your credibility.  It’s a small-picture review of your work.  Bonnie works will excellent copywriters, supervising their work to ensure you get a great result.

Proofreading

You should proofread your manuscript yourself—multiple times, with an eye to the tiniest details.  You will, however, reach a point where you can no longer “see” at the manuscript clearly.  This comes from simply being too close to the manuscript.

Good proofreaders are people who can catch those tiny mistakes, like a missing period at the end of a sentence, or the word trial when only trail makes sense, etc.  Good proofreading is essential to your credibility as an author.  Bonnie works will excellent copywriters, supervising their work to ensure you get a great result.  It is always the author’s job to do the final reading and approved the proofreader’s work.  It’s your name on the cover!

Your investment varies with the size of your project and the services you request.
